Shawna Nahal

Biography

Shawna Nahal has over a decade of experience advising lenders, business owners, developers and professionals on corporate, commercial, financing, and litigation matters. She represents clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters and has appeared before administrative tribunals, in mediations, and at all three levels of court in Alberta.

Shawna represents lenders in a variety of financing and foreclosure matters. She structures and prepares security documents tailored to each transaction, including construction financing and private lending arrangements, and acts on the enforcement of security. She provides ongoing guidance to lenders on both routine matters and specific issues, integrating her litigation experience to manage enforcement and related proceedings effectively.

Shawna also acts on the purchase and sale of assets and shares for businesses across multiple industries, including franchises. She also assists clients with corporate structuring and drafting key corporate documents, such as shareholder agreements, to support effective governance and long-term business planning. Shawna advises and acts on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and sales of office towers, shopping plazas, warehouse facilities and multi-family residential buildings.  

Shawna obtained her Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2015, where she specialized in corporate remedies, governance, finance, and commercial law, knowledge she leverages to help clients achieve effective, practical outcomes.
